About Turkish food :

If you are planning to travel to Turkey or you are just coming to this beautiful country and you don’t know about this beautiful country , you will probably have trouble choosing food in the country . So we decided to introduce you Turkish main dishes in a post . Of course , Turkey is a country with various food and its a famous country because  of this . Introducing  every single dish is not easy but we are doing our best to provide the most comprehensive information on different fields . Turkish cuisine includes all kinds of main dishes , soups , desserts , salads and drinks .

Main Turkish food :

It is good to know that Turkish people use veal and mutton for specific food . This country is well known in the world because of different types of kebabs . The most Turkey kebab is the doner kebab which is made from both chicken and meat  and should be eaten with caution because of its fat and salty taste .Another types of kebab in Turkey is Iskender kebab that is the same doner but its is served in plate and also served with the thick tomato puree and hot butter and it must served with yogurt .

We have actually two kinds of Turkish pizza named lahmacun and pide . Lahmacun is very lightweight and in fact it is a bread seasoned  with minced meat and stuffed with lettuce and tomatoes . But pide is elliptical and oval . It is made with many different ingredients by adding cheese  and then sliced like pizza . In different parts of Turkey , They make this food differently.

Borek and Simit are also Turkey’s most famous food that can be made simple or filling belly . The ingredients in borek can be anything like cheese , meat ,Spinach or potatoes .

Soups in Turkish food :

Usually ,the menu of Turkish restaurants starts with Chorba  . What is chorba ? Chorba is a kind of soup that is very popular in Turkey .no matter its winter or summer , it is always welcomed . Mercimek corbasi is a yellow lentil soup that is usually served with lemon and bread . they also have a very tasty  soup that often served in winter that named Ezoglin corbasi . Thus soup is made from wheat grits and lentils and may be a little  spicy and very tasty with a few drops of lemon.

Salads in Turkish food :

Vegetables in Turkey are very high level of quality and because  of that they have very different  salads in their menu. About the sauce Turkish people use , we have to say that they often use pomegranate sauce and there are many types of lettuce that they may use all of these in a salad . The main salad we can introduce you is choban salad which is spicy by using green pepper and the pieces are a bit thicker. Mosim salad with ingredients  like lettuce , cucumbers , carrots ,red cabbage and sometimes tomatoes and corn . Greek salad is a combination of cucumber and tomato and onion with green pepper ,white cheese and olive .

Desserts :

Every table in the world ends with desserts . Turkey is famous with its wonderful pastries. A country with rich cuisine has many more amazing desserts . From milk desserts to deep fried and extremely sweet snacks . Here are some excellent desserts you definitely need to try out .

1: Sekerpare :it is a very sweet dessert that is made with an almond-based dough and then soaked with a hot sugar syrup .

2) Helva : Helva is a famous dessert in Turkey  and all over the Middle East that is made from semolina flour and it melts perfectly when baked .

3)Revani : Revani in Egypt named Basbousa .Revani in Turkey  made from a semolina cake and then it is soaked in simple syrup . Some people also add rose water to the syrup , it does the dessert more fragrant .

Appetizer or meze  :

One of the most important dishes of the Turkish food is Meze .Turkey  has a wide variety of appetizers and usually  in traditional restaurants you can find many of them . Appetizer are divided into warm and cold and are often spicy . Good to know that when you have seen acili , it means the food is very spicy .  cold Appetizer is  for summer and often are made with yogurt . Meze can served with fish and seafood or can served with grilled meats . Here are some typical mezes that you encounter in a Turkish meal : white cheese and melon , goat cheese and butter and flat bread , green or black olives , hummuns saksuka , stuffed zucchini blossoms ,cold manti ….
